Every June, people around the world choose to fight the ravages and darkness of Alzheimer’s through a fundraising activity of their choice on “The Longest Day.”

What will be your choice this year? Will you join the millions of people who participate in The Longest Day?

Here’s how it works. June 21 is the summer solstice, the day of the year with the most light. Here in Fishersville, that’s 14 hours, 49 minutes of daylight — more than 5 hours more daylight than the shortest day of the year!

The great thing about this fundraiser is it’s so easy to take part in it. You can be at home, or online, or participate in person. It’s basically your choice.

Here’s your chance to use your creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Unlimited Options

The types of activities you can do include exercise, sports, games, hobbies, arts, or parties and events. You can choose something you like to do, whether it’s baking, card games, crafts, or swimming.

Even if you feel like you should be social distancing, it’s easy to create a fundraiser for The Longest Day. You could do an online workout, or a “sporting event” at home such as golf putting, or cook or bake, or have a card game or do a puzzle.

Other options include teaching a class such as art or drawing, crocheting, doing a craft or perhaps a makeup tutorial. There’s no limit to how you can participate and help the 55 million people around the world who struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementia.

Want to Donate?

You could also donate to a fundraiser or sponsor someone. If you don’t know anyone participating in The Longest Day but still want to donate, you can find a fundraiser on the Alzheimer’s Association website.

It’s all up to you and how much you want to participate and help out. One of the great things about The Longest Day is you can be involved virtually.
